A message from the founder of SHATTER PROOF charities Gary Mendell:
Dear Bryan and MyRecoveryArmor,
My family and I have a lot to celebrate this year: our son Greg’s engagement, our children's successes in their careers and personal lives, and—thankfully—our good health. I feel blessed in so many ways. But the holidays are always bittersweet. My oldest son Brian should be here with us. But tragically, in the fall of 2011 after years of struggling with addiction, Brian took his own life. He would have turned 35 this Saturday. Brian worked hard to find the right treatment and to overcome the stigma associated with his disease once he entered recovery. But he didn't see a world where he would be viewed as a young man who got sick, got medical treatment, and went on to live a full and fulfilling life. In the nine years he’s been gone, I’ve dedicated my life to creating a better world for the next young person who comes along - the next family - so no one else suffers like Brian did.
I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for supporting our work.
